The School Transportation Active-Threat Response Training (S.T.A.R.T.) program is designed is an advanced driver training program designed for in-service or professional development days, equipping school bus drivers and staff with essential skills to handle active threats and emergencies. Through hands-on simulations, scenario-based exercises and expert-led instruction, the training enhances the district’s protective measures in safeguarding students and staff. Core components include managing hostile parents through conflict resolution, identifying suspicious behavior, situational awareness, juvenile behavioral intelligence (based on Secret Service research), and active school shooter/threat response, ensuring comprehensive school bus safety.
